Histology Technician - 8 Hour Evening Shift

Job Description

The Histology Technician will be responsible for processing tissue samples in the Pathology Laboratory. This includes receiving surgical specimens, accessioning them into Cerner, and collaborating with PA staff for block collection. The technician will be engaged in the embedding, cutting, and staining of tissue slides, ensuring the highest quality of laboratory results.

Responsibilities

• Receive and accession specimens into Cerner.
• Collect tissue blocks from pathologists' assistants.
• Process, embed, cut, and stain tissue samples.
• Collaborate with laboratory staff to maintain workflow.
• Ensure adherence to quality standards and protocols in the lab.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Pathology Laboratory.
• ASCP (HT/HLT) certification required.
• Successful completion of a formal histology technologist training program or an Associate's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences.
