The company is seeking an experienced Microbiologist in their water testing laboratory, to be based in Durban, KZN.
Key Responsibilities for the position:
• Maintain all Quality Control records
• Verification and calibration of laboratory equipment (pipettes, balance, pH meter)
• Temperature Control (data loggers, hobo) Autoclave monitoring
• Microbiological analysis, direct plating, membrane filtration, Dilution
• Agar, Glassware, Apparatus preparation
• Backup for Senior Microbiologist
• Recording, reporting and interpreting of all results
• Adhere to all ISO 17025 requirements
• Preparation of Prelim Bacteriological Reports
• Operation of laboratory equipment
• Staff training
• Participation in Proficiency testing schemes
• Stocktaking
Relevant Tertiary Microbiological Qualification is a must.
At least 1 – 3 years’ experience, preferably in a water laboratory.
The suitable person should be able to work well within a team, should be able to handle pressure and work with a high degree of accuracy and speed as there is large sample volumes coming through the laboratory.
