Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Mountain Region is looking for a Staff Project Engineer/Geologist/Scientist for our Environmental Services Group. This position will be based out of our Fort Collins or Denver, CO offices. The role as a Staff Project Engineer/Geologist/Scientist is to perform field and task management duties associated with environmental permitting, hydrologic and hydrogeological studies, subsurface investigations, remediation, and monitoring projects; sampling of soil, sediment, surface water, and groundwater; oversight of subcontractors; production of maps; data interpretation/evaluation and deliverable preparation.  Approximately 75% office to 25% field working primarily with a major Oil and Gas Operator in Northeast, CO.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Project Coordination
  • Report Writing 
  • Field support for soil and groundwater site investigation and remediation projects
  • Operation and maintenance of soil and groundwater remediation systems 
  • Soil and Groundwater monitoring / sampling 
  • Data evaluation, coordinating with GIS team to generate figures, and reporting
  • Communicate daily with the project team and clients as needed

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required  
  • Position requires strict adherence to health and safety procedures, attention to detail, good work ethic, and a passion for high quality workmanship
  • Excellent organizational skills, combined with the ability and flexibility to work in a dynamic, challenging and fast paced environment
  • The ability to travel up to 25% of the time is required
  • Good driving record and valid driver’s license required
  • Prior to employment, this position may require the successful passing of a pre-employment physical and drug screen

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical science, geology or engineering required
  • 4 to 7 years of experience in natural resources consulting and/or Oil and Gas sector experience in Colorado is preferred
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and/or associated yearly 8-hour refresher course preferred 
  • Experience with soil and groundwater sampling protocol preferred
  • Experience with operation and maintenance of various field sampling and monitoring equipment preferred
  • Experience with contaminated land investigations and remediation, environmental due diligence with Phase I ESA and Phase II ESA experience, RCRA, borehole logging experience using USCS protocol preferred 

This position will be a mix of field and desktop work. Our Denver and Fort Collins Environmental Services team generally works remotely and meets frequently; however, an office desk is available if preferred. Because of this, the successful candidate will be expected to reside within a reasonable commuting distance to Fort Collins or Denver. 

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
