MEDICAL LABORATORY ASSISTANT

(TEMPORARY PART TIME)

One (1) temporary part time Medical Laboratory Assistant position is available within the Laboratory Department at Groves Memorial Community Hospital. 

This position is unionized with the OPSEU – Local 236.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant course
• Ontario Society of Medical Technology (OSMT) certified and/or CSMLS Lab Assistant Certification
• Must be proficient in phlebotomy and performing ECG’s
• Must manage Laboratory Information System (LIS) including both pre and post analytical procedures
• Superior communication, team building, technology and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with many and varied internal and external individuals, groups, and agencies
• Knowledge and compliance with IQMH, and Lab Licensing Standards
• Medical background and previous laboratory experience is a definite asset
• Satisfactory performance and attendance required
• Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date
• Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
• Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment prior to being hired

HOURS OF WORK:                           

• As per department, available for all shifts, including weekends, on an as needed basis
• As per Collective Agreement

Salary:  $32.59 - $37.26 per hour
