The Laboratory Technician conducts chemical and physical laboratory tests of samples from the plant for quality control using gauges and instruments. Analyzes and documents results accurately. Lubrication Engineers employees and partners strive for continuous improvement in design, development, production, packaging, sales and delivery of products and services that meet or exceed customer, regulatory, and performance requirements.
Essential Functions:
· Perform routine analyses to determine product quality status, including control samples and calibration checks.
· Interpret and document results of tests into active databases and communicate results to internal customers as required.
· Set up and conduct tests utilizing ICP Spectrometry, and/or by chemical and physical testing techniques.
· Read and understand all laboratory standard procedures, as well as comply and follow all laboratory SOPs and methods in order to perform accurate precise testing.
· Responsible for preliminary investigation, minor repair, and communication of problems involving instruments, methods, samples, sample containers.
· Procedural preparation of chemical solutions and standards.
· Frequent use of computer software (Outlook, Excel, LIMS, etc.)
· Demonstrate attention to quality in job performance.
· Work independently with minimum supervision and have excellent attention to detail.
· Be accountable for personal contribution to achieving turnaround time goals and quality lab testing.
· Conduct job tasks in a professional manner utilizing good housekeeping practices and laboratory technique.
· Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and initiative to handle unanticipated circumstances.
· Strong safety background/orientation.
· Additional duties as required.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, a Laboratory Technician is frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, and fumes. The noise level in this work environment is quiet. All necessary safety training and safety equipment is provided to new employees.
Hours: Monday thru Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm while in training and then shift will change to 6:30am to 3:00pm
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry preferred
· Industrial laboratory experience preferred.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
· Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word knowledge.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk to and talk to people throughout the manufacturing plant; reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and/or couch. Occasional lifting of up to 35 pounds is required.
