An permanent full time vacancy arises for a Clinical Scientist to join the Visual Electrophysiology service in  St. Paul's Eye Unit, Liverpool based at the new Royal Liverpool University Hospital which opened in October 2022.   St Paul's is a long established unit with 44 consultant ophthalmologists providing the full range of ophthalmology subspecialties to Cheshire & Merseyside and beyond.  The visual electrophysiology service is lead clinically by Prof Savita Madhusudhan.

The successful applicant will be based at Royal Liverpool University Hospital and will perform a range of electrodiagnostic tests and be involved in the interpretation and reporting of results.   Patients are referred to the service for assessment both from with St Paul's Eye Unit and from other providers.  The service also provides a paediatric service at ALder Hey Children's hospital which the successful applicant will involved in.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful applicant will be based at Royal Liverpool University Hospital and will also work at Alder Hey Children's Hospital. They will carry out a range of electro visual physiology tests with adult and paediatric patients, and will prepare appropriate reports to assist medical colleagues in diagnosis and patient management.  Please see job description document for further information.

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £26.50 (standard disclosure) or £54.50 (enhanced disclosure) will be deducted from salary, in manageable monthly instalments for up to 3 months following commencement of employment.
